As I have said before, the BLACK Edition is capable. Just add a driver.
I have covered these same things this blog over the past year, and in FB posts before that, and of course, I have lived it since the year 2003. Let’s take a look
1. Trust Yourself
When I started designing my car, and later when I started my company, I knew that I didn’t know what I was doing, but I always believed I could figure it all out. That’s it really. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
2. Break Some Rules
Not a problem, this one I have covered. Stupid rules are made to be broken. From studying for my degree picking the courses I wanted, even when I wasn’t accepted into the specific programs, applying instead after I had completed them, to doing business unconventionally, figuring out things as we go.
3. Don’t Be Afraid To Fail
It goes without saying, I have failed a lot. When you try everything for the first time, it sort of comes with the territory.
4. Ignore The Naysayers
This does not only mean haters, it also means ignoring your friends or family members who may not share your faith. It takes a strong mind to remain dedicated and committed, specially if everyone around you thinks you are wasting your time, and won’t succeed, and definitely if your goals are to do something that hasn’t been done before.
5. Work Like Hell
In Ryan Cavalieri’s words: “I don’t know how you do it. I don’t know how you have time to do anything.”. Well, basically by not having a life outside of JQRacing, it is actually possible. This is the one that I feel like I fail at the most. Spreading oneself too thin only means being average at everything, and not doing anything as well as possible. I feel like I leave too much on the table.
6. Give Something Back
I try to give good young drivers with the right attitude and dedication the opportunity to achieve their goals in RC racing. I provide a ton of content such as this, for free. Outside of RC I give back too, but that’s a different story. Good things happen to good people, so try and be a good person.
The track was just awesome! Apart from the jumps, some of which were quite silly, it was epic.
A real offroad track separates the men from the boys, both when it comes to setup in the pits, and racing on the track.
I hope we have more races on real offroad tracks in the future. Last years have been good in Europe!
I hope they don’t spoil it by over reacting and making it high grip and smooth by treating the surface. People will complain no matter what, just leave it. Fix the jumps, leave the track.
Boots and Ronnefalk were quite impressive. On a different level from the rest in the main.
Max Mört’s archrival Jessica Pålsson JUST beat him for the last bump to the main. Impressive by Jessica, and painful for Max.
We need LCQ at the Euros and Worlds, all the people that miss the main in the semis, get to race, but make it 2 or 3 spots that make it in.
Superpole is cool I think, maybe a few tweaks to the format, and then the announcer needs to be on it, so everyone knows what’s going on.
I am really depressed about being so much better at eBuggy. It seriously saddens me.
I am attempting to outsource my Savoya Battles for the bump up to other team members. Always a JQ there, can’t get away from it.
Practice, we talkin’ about practice! Today was a good day. Track is “motocross”, and I love it. It’s balls out, punch it, go fast, but it’s rough and loose, so you have to pick your lines carefully, and you have to hit each section at the right speed. That speed is fast, but it needs to be the right fast. And you can’t avoid all the bumps, you just have to power through them. Exactly the sort of surface I enjoy the most. It’s a case of, either you go fast, or you go slow. Medium will catch out you, and don’t let off if you get in trouble or it will end up worse, just smash the throttle. Like motocross, but safer.
I got both my cars really good, and I’m still basically using a standard bumpy track setup. Only minor changes from track to track, regardless of surface, really happy about that. Things to look at, swaybars, antisquat, toe in, droop.
Lee Martin is running both the JQ cars, nitro and electric, so I hope he will do well. It’s tough because he has very limited track time with nitro, and got the electric at the race, and with the track being “special”, let’s see how it goes tomorrow. Fingers crossed we get them how he likes his cars!
Another race! This time the Euros will be in Sweden. As long as I have been racing, there has never been a 1:8th scale Euros in Scandinavia, so this is going to be really nice. Above you can see a video of a lap from last summer, and below you can see a track walk by David Ronnefalk. The track is really nice, and it’s looking like the weather is going to cooperate. It should be a lot of fun!
Social media brings out the worst in people.
I’m the kind of person, that helps anyone at the track, regardless of car brand or any other factor. Ask me for help, and I’ll help, sometimes you don’t even need to ask, and I’ll help you anyway.
Recently I have been thinking about something. If I was to say, sorry, I can’t help you to people not running a JQ car, that would make me an asshole, right? Wouldn’t it?
If so, what are the people who read my setup guides, and ask me questions, tell me they support me, yet don’t run a JQ car, or buy any JQRacing products? Are they assholes too?
